Blazing Trails, Inspiring Others

When we follow our passion it shows - and it MATTERS in the lives of those we serve. Take Debra Morrison for example. With an impressive list of accomplishments that highlight a career dedicated to others, Debra has built her personal passion for helping women soar into both her financial planning practice and her motivational speaking business.

A deserving spotlight was shown on Debra by the Daily Record. Take a look. You'll be inspired by who she chooses to be in the world. Recently Debra was named one of "New Jersey's Best 50 Women in Business" for 2008. Bravo!

Debra is a fabulous woman who has found the secret sauce: do what you love, and you'll inspire others to do the same.

Gratitude Club

"Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude." - Denis Waitley

The Art of Snail Mail

I could make a very strong case that the foundation of my success has been built on sending people note cards. Over the years I've literally sent thousands of cards. It's my joy writing notes to thank and acknowledge people. What better way to stay connected to your friends and customers?

When I started Affirmagy, however, writing notes to all our customers became a huge task. One that, frankly, I was not doing well. There were times when I would write 'thank you for your order' notes hundreds at a time, only to find my hand hurting, and my mind questioning the wisdom of this time investment. I couldn't personalize all those cards... and after a while the quality of my handwriting would decline beyond my standards.

Who wants to get a note from a business owner whose writing resembles a fourth grader?

Enter SendOutCards. There isn't enough time today to adequately brag all over this company. Let me just say this; I wish I'd thought of it. Kody Bateman's vision, and his commitment to others is extraordinary. Please take a look. SendOutCards makes it SO easy to stay in touch, acknowledge, thank and love on people when they least expect it. It's a beautiful thing!

Connect with Kristen

Friday I had the pleasure of hosting my first Connect with Kristen event. What a treat! It was such an honor getting to lead the day, and learn about the aha's and breakthroughs that my guests experienced.

For those of you who teach, you know that any time you immerse yourself in workshop - even if you are leading the conversation - it's natural to experience your our aha's! in the process.

Well, that's what happened to me. As the morning was unfolding, I remembered the very first set of steps that made the day possible...and they were super simple: I declared that I was doing the event. Sitting in Maui at the end of February, I created Connect with Kristen. I selected a date, built a little website, and drafted an outline of the day. That's it.

All the details, the comprehensive outline, securing attendees, figuring out all the ins and outs came later.
My big aha? GET INTO ACTION on your BIG DREAMS. Tip the domino. Step the first step.

It will all unfold from there. This I know.

Making it up as we go....

Inspire Me Today

Today it's my delight to shine the light on a woman who is following her heart and making a difference in the lives of others.

I met Gail Goodwin last fall at a mastermind group event in Chicago. Gail is a force of nature. She's one of those people who can breathe life into an idea and make it take shape. And the more I got to know Gail, the more I admired her vision for a website that offered daily inspiration to those around the world. (I encourage you to read her story. It's very inspiring!)

Inspire Me Today is worth a peek. Gail has assembled a group that she calls "Luminaries" that I think you'll like to know. Each day the site highlights a different individual. And I am proud that Gail asked me to serve in that spot on May 8th.

Have an inspired day!

Gratitude Monday

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity.... It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow." - Melody Beattie

Miracle Report

It's been a while since I've written a Miracle Report. But that doesn't mean they aren't happening any more. Thankfully, they are. And today was no exception.

I popped into the office today - oh how I LOVE the quiet of a Saturday morning at the desk - and realized something amazing. As I was sending a letter of agreement to a new team member, I realized how effortlessly this person came into my life. Based on the heavy lifting required for past teammates, this was a miracle indeed.

For months (15 of them in all!) I've been looking on and off for a new team member to provide Affirmagy admin support. (The trial and error with this assignment alone is worth writing a book.) But it wasn't until I let it go about 90 days ago and stopped really looking that this person was referred to me.

And trust me, it was a miracle. Our new team member is exactly the combination of skills, experiences, expertise and good old laps around the block I've been dreaming of. Amen!

What a great reminder miracles are happening in my life all the time.

Hope REVO

I wrote about a wonderful initiative by an amazing person over at my other blog, Affirmawords.  This is so cool I just had to share it with you.

Hope REVO
Go to this site immediately.  This is a great example of the power of words to encourage, empower and inspire people.  Krystyn started Hope REVO to encourage others and start a HOPE revolution.  My kind of woman.  Krystyn is one of my new heroes because she's spreading the message of hope JUST BECAUSE she believes it's important to encourage, inspire others.

Hope REVO Goes to Rwanda
It inspires me when simple acts of kindness, like Krystyn's, grow into something bigger.  The philsophy behind Hope REVO is expanding into Rwanda.  Please click here to read more as Krystyn explains everything way better than I can.  The power of one small act, the power of words to make great change is amazing.  Be amazed and inspired by reading about Hope REVO Going to Rwanda.

Designing a Life You Love: Green Baby!

In the spirit of living a life you love, today I talked with a truly remarkable man named David Kaufer. David is the creator and visionary behind a couple of really cool websites: GreenForGood and GreenPowerBabyShower.

First, I would be remiss in not disclosing that I am honored to be the current Green Hero on the Green For Good site. If you want to check out the article about what we're doing to do our part, please take a peek - and check out the site while your there.

Second, rest assured that this has nothing to do with why I wanted to write about David. I am writing because A) he has 2 yr old twin boys - instantly making him a remarkable human B) He has an appreciation of great design and the graphic designer in me applauds the GreenPower Baby Shower site for being so elegant and lovely, and C) David understands the power of intentionality and focus. Choosing to be in service of all things green AND all things baby is one pretty cool niche!

And I love people who set their sights, grounded in their heart, that go for it! Clearly David fits the bill.

So, are you a green-minded mommy in the Seattle area? Do you know a mommy who'd like to hang out with other northwest green moms? Please check out the luncheon that's a part of GreenPower Baby Shower, and hear keynote Dr Alan Greene speak!

While you're there on May 3rd, say hello to David -  a shining example of how to design a life you love.
