Having It All

Recently I was asked “Is it possible to ‘have it all”? My intuitive reaction to the question was a resounding “YES”!

Upon deeper reflection, having it all really revolves around our individual definition of what ‘all’ is. (I bet my 9th grade English teacher Mr. Brown just had a shiver go through his body when I crafted that sentence.)

Aren’t we fortunate to live in a time and place when, really, just about anything is possible? Our understanding of Universal Law is growing, and for many of us life is becoming a joyous game of manifestation. For me, ‘having it all’ is about listening to my heart’s desire, and uncovering what is really important in my spiritual life, my friends and family, my career and finances and in my personal life.

Having it all means lots of things; good health, good friends, a great relationship, and creating a company that is committed to doing well by doing good. It means a commitment to my spiritual life, and living in a way that I believe makes a difference in the lives of others.

One of the most important things for me to remember in the context of ‘having it all’ is to trust the timing of the Universe. I’ve found that my goals and dreams are bigger than me at times – and that’s exactly the way I like it. When I wonder if my vision of having it all will happen, I stop and remember; it’s impossible to have everything, all at once. But it is possible to attract all the different versions of our heart’s desire over a lifetime.

This post is part of a blog carnival started by John Assaraf. Michelle Price invited me to play. The last question, “In what area of your life could you use a boost?”. I could use a way to thrive on 6 hours of sleep. Wouldn’t that be extraordinary. For me, that would be a quantum leap in 'having it all'.

Here are three tips to designing a life you love:
1. Uncover your heart's desire. Take the time to ask, and listen. You'll be amazed at what comes to the surface.
2. Give yourself permission to follow your heart. This means stepping away from a known life, into the unknown.
3. Build structures to support your big dreams. Surround yourself with the images, words, and people that are in alignment with your heart's desire, and watch the magic unfold.
